Disney allows guests to bring backpacks into the park. However, there are some restrictions on the size and type of bag guests can bring.

That said, most reasonably-sized bags and backpacks are going to be well within the sizing limits.

Specifically, bags or backpacks under 24 inches long and 15 inches wide and 18 inches in height are permitted (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm).

Per Disney’s website, all bags and persons entering the park are subject to security screenings, which can include a manual search of all compartments.

Are coolers allowed at Disney?

Coolers are also allowed but ice is not. In fact, Disney’s website recommends using ice packs if you need to keep things cold.

Disney changes its security protocols periodically. As a result, the layout and procedures in place in the screening areas are not always the same.

Sometimes, guests with backpacks simply take the bags with them through the metal detectors. However, items in storage baskets of strollers typically must be removed. Sometimes guests are selected at random to have their backpacks thoroughly searched.

We’ve also been through security checkpoints where every bag was searched. If your bag is searched, you’ll be asked to open every single zipper pocket and compartment.

With this in mind, some bags have tons of compartments, which can be great for keeping all your items organized. But It can also be a hassle if or when your bag is searched.

What size backpack is best for Disney World?

This is going to depend on the size of your family and the ages of your kids. If you have a stroller, you might be able to use the storage basket for some of your items.

This may allow you to carry a smaller backpack. But, be sure to keep the size restrictions in mind when considering a larger bag.
